Essential Oils

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

Essential oils capture the “essence” of a plant through distillation or mechanical pressing. Essentially, these oils are concentrated extracts that retain, or magnify the fragrance and effect of their source. Oils from different plants or different parts of the same plant can have very different chemical compositions, which changes the smell, absorption, and effect on the body and mind.

PLANT THERAPY QUALITY

Before we even obtain a sample of an oil, we find out everything we can about the farmer, distiller or supplier. We research the background, reputation, commitment to quality, and commitment to the industry behind each sample. Once we know everything we need to know to our satisfaction, we then move on to looking at the actual oil itself.

Essential oils are composed of many chemical constituents (typically around 100). There are many factors that can affect the composition and quality of an oil, including where the plant was grown (country of origin, latitude, elevation) soil and weather conditions, time of day and time of year of harvest, and many other parameters of distillation.

Why Authenticity Matters:

1. Essential oils applied topically are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream almost instantly.

2. Inhaling oil’s aroma immediately passes vapors into your body and mind.
